Sony PlayStation has a long run of hit platform game mascots. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the
Dragon, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and the ever popular Rachet And Clank. The hits keep on
coming in this series. Rachet And Clank: Up Your Arsenal is the third installment in the fantastic
Rachet and Clank series. The third and best by the way. These games keep upping the standards
One of the reasons Rachet and Clank works, is because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. They
know it’s a game and you wanna just blow stuff up. Sure, there’s a story. Which is actually quite
clever and very humorous. This game will make you laugh out loud. The laughs are done mostly
during the cut scenes. Which is completely appropriate, cause during the game play they know we
just wanna blow stuff up. We don’t care how or what, so they give us numerous and some quite
creative ways to blow stuff up. Oh, and it has to look good, while doing it too. We won’t settle
for those weak digital 1 frame flashes of fire to mimic an explosion..oh no. We need shards and
pieces flying in all directions. We want loud, noisy, head dodging BOOMS.
Rachet and Clank really delivers in this department. However, if the shock and awe of big time
bombings don’t get your heart pumping. Rachet and Clank still provides clever levels, difficult
bosses, and hilarious original characters that don’t strive from the previous games. I must admit,
I’m a sucker for a good story, but even more so for a gun that turns its victims into chickens. Or
in this game, sheep. That’s right, there’s a gun that turns evil does into sheepish wool. Awwwww.
Graphically the game is top notch. The only complaint I can even think of, is the camera angles
get in the way sometimes. But that’s with any game of this type anymore. At least this game
allows control of them, so that’s a good thing. It looks much like its predecessors, but with fine
tuning. Sound is great, the acting is well done. Control is fine….I guess that; it
really….Oh, did I forget to mention this Clank is now ONLINE?
Play multiplayer in all out brawl. It basically turns into a shooter, but it’s a blast. Er, pardon the
pun. If you have the PlayStation network adapter and highspeed internet, I suggest you try it.
Other 1 player games of this kind should take note. A game doesn’t have to be normally
multiplayer to offer an online game.
