PUBG is being developed under the direction of the author of the original mod for ARMA, but BlueHole’s studio developer itself is Korean, and this is their second game. Lack of experience greatly affects the final quality of the product.
First, the optimization. The game, which is visually comparable with the releases of 2009, manages to slow down on computers with 1080 TI and i7-8700K. On the super-productive XBOX One X, the game hardly copes with maintaining 30fps.
Secondly, the bugs. Falling under the texture, sticking in the doors and bullets, which actually do not reach anywhere. Weapons are sometimes reloaded twice, and then do not shoot at all. Desync is an absolutely ordinary story. All this will accompany any gaming session in the Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. Developers of Fortnite is the most famous Epic Games: the developer of the Unreal Engine, which, by the way, works on both PUBG and Fortnite. But just before releasing the game, Epic first brought it into a new form. The number of bugs in Fortnite is minimal, and the stable frame rate the game pulls even with not very productive iron.
PUBG looks like hello from the past decade. Some kind of soap textures, boring models of players and weapons, primitive icons. The range of drawing is weak, a lot of soap, fog and sharp corners. Physics oak. A motorcycle that travels at high speed can fly into the sky for a hundred meters, stumbled upon a microchamber in the field, and then land without any damage, or it can, on the contrary, explode if dropped from a meter. Fortnite looks much nicer.
Firstly, the game has its own cartoonish style, and it is homogeneous. PUBG, on the other hand, looks like a mix of different stock models, which cannot be combined with each other at all. Secondly, the technological advantage. Visual effects are contrasting and advanced, and the models have beautiful smooth animations. Fortnite physics is more advanced (except of bullet flight physics) and predictable.
3. Easy gameplay
The game from Epic is much easier to start playing. At the same time, the project is never inferior in depth. Even on the contrary, the mechanics of construction opens up almost unlimited possibilities for the players in choosing tactics of survival, unlike PUBG, which always turns out to be about “loot and shoot.” The high threshold of entry into PUBG is due to the fact that you need to get used to many crookedly implemented elements, and the game does not give a second chance. The only thing PUBG really advanced is the mechanics of weapons. For each shot in PUBG projectile physics is calculated. If you shoot far, the bullet will fall below the aiming point. This can be compensated by installing Zeroing Distance. The game also has a variety of modules that will affect the firing range, recoil, aiming and the number of shells in the store.
In Fortnite, almost all guns use Hitscan (bullets fly instantly to the place where the player’s scope is located), and with a range, the damage simply falls.
And only for sniper rifles used projectile flight mechanics. Because of this, shooting in the game from Epic is more predictable, but a squalid player in PUBG will have a greater advantage over opponents than a veteran of Fortnite. This is an inevitable feature of an affordable implementation of game mechanics.
The pace of development of Fortnite incomparable with the Korean crafts. Epic Games consistently issues a large-scale patch once a month. The shooting mechanics, balance change, the map is modified, bugs are fixed, new game modes are added. For example, recently added race on hoverboards. Fortnite Battle Royale is just one of the game modes, in addition to which there is also the main one, where the focus is on structural mechanics. In the PUBG for the year of development added the ability to climb over the obstacles (yes, before that it was not), a new map and a couple of hundreds of new bugs.
This is not surprising, because the resources of Koreans are incomparable with the titanium of the gaming industry.
